ACORN exposer, James O’Keefe Arrested on Felony Charges


January 27, 2010 – James O’Keefe , who gained celebrity status within conservative circles for capturing ACORN employees on hidden camera committing illegal acts, was arrested on Monday along with three other men.

All four men work for conservative publications and are accused by federal authorities of impersonating telephone workers with the intent to carry out a crime on federal property. The federal property in question was the office of U.S.

Senator Mary Landrieu, who has recently come under fire from Conservatives for her supporting vote on the healthcare bill. They claim that she sold her vote in return for a Medicaid provision worth upwards of $365 million.

O’Keefe was apparently in the waiting room of the Senator’s office before the other two suspects, Robert Flanagan and Joseph Basel, came into the office dressed as telephone workers. The fourth suspect, Stan Dai, was apprehended by police while waiting outside in a car nearby the building. He was found with a listening contraption on him. If found guilty of the felony charges, the four men face the possibility of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

After having been released on bond from custody, the men are expected to meet with the pretrial services department on Wednesday.
