Did You Buy A Winning Ticket?
Lotto Max is a lottery game that is played in Canada, replacing the Lotto Super Seven. Sales for the Lotto Max started on 9-19-2009 with drawings held every Friday starting 9-25-2009. It costs $5 to play. A player has to choose 7 numbers from 1-49, Two more sets of 7 numbers are quick-picked automatically to make a set of 3. The prizes for the game are awarded due to many numbers in each 7-number game match the winning numbers. Once the maximum of $50 million is reached the lotto is capped off. After that additional draws are conducted for one million dollars each.
On Friday July 30th 2010, the drawing was estimated at the fifty million prize cap, with multiple “Maxmillion” draws.
The longest streak of fifty million jackpots in a row has been one month (4 weeks to be exact). The drawing after that on
6-11 included twenty “Maxmillions”. With the jackpot rolling again, there were forty five Maxmillion draws on 6-18-2010.
As with all of the Canadian lottery games with a jackpot involved, winners receive their prizes in one lump sum (tax free). Lotto Max is administered by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation, this corporation works with the five regional lotto corporations owned by the ten provinces as well as three territories. Retailers receive a % for tickets that are sold from their store. The money given to the store owner is not deducted from the winning prize. As for the retailer agreements, they vary by jurisdiction.
The million dollar winners are those from the Maxmillion prizes. In lotto max anything collected over $50 million is divided into one million dollar sub prizes. There have been a number of sub prizes claimed and the Canadian people are excited about their claims.
For this lotto draw the Canadians purchased $35 million worth of lottery tickets. Sales are expected to increase substantially during the coming week. Since the maxmillion prize was introduced last December sales are up. In July sales have increased by more than 23 per cent.
Friday nights main draw saw the numbers 17, 19, 26, 29, 34, 35, and 38 pop up. The bonus number was 47. Four people had six numbers in addition to the bonus number. The prize was $383,156. There were 128 people with six numbers who will each claim $6,364.20. The smallest pay out was $20. – 169,809 people claimed four numbers while 169,809 other people claimed their $20. with three numbers plus the bonus number. More than one million people won a free play by having three of the numbers.
Although the main jackpot will remain at $50 million for next Friday’s draw chances look good that there might be another $50 million to split in the Maxmillion prizes. Canadians like the lotto set up because it gives all players better odds at becoming a millionaire over night.
One of the previous Lotto max winners, Gary Troll, said his win has made a major difference in his life. Still, Troll has not quit his job and he still uses his salary to care for his family.
