And the winner is…Lotto Max results

Twelve lucky people walked away with $1 million each after the winning numbers were revealed in Friday night’s Lotto Max draw.

While there was no winning ticket for the $50 million jackpot prize in last night’s drawing, 12 of the 32 MaxMillion prizes were awarded.

Due to the lack of a winner last night, the lottery will be carried over to the August 13th Lotto Max drawing where there will be a chance at the $50 million jackpot as well as 38 MaxMillion prizes each of which will be worth $1 million.

Lotto Max has become quite popular during its first year of existence. According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the game has brought in $1.48 billion nationally within its first 10 months. It was estimated that it would pull in $1.4 billion in its first full year.

Lotto Max replaced Super 7 last September. During its best year, Super 7 earned $760 million.

“Is it a complete surprise? No,” said the manager of public relations for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Don Pister. “(The Lotto Max design has) been in the works for several years.”

The Lotto Max popularity is attributed to the fact that the prize has been split up into one big prize and many smaller prizes. This allows people to feel that they have a bigger chance at winning.
