Canadian telecommunications company TELUS Mobility is bringing the LG Cookie Plus to Canada.
The LG Cookie Plus arrives after the first LG Cookie had modestly successful sales in Canada. The Canadian mobile technology website, MobileSyrup, received internal documents about the LG Cookie Plus and broke the news of the release first. It was later confirmed by David Fuller, the Chief Marketing Officer of TELUS Customer Solutions, who also said, “We are excited to add the LG Cookie Plus to our back-to-school line-up, offering Canadians a strong option when looking for a wireless social networking experience.”
Sporting a decent 240×400 resolution in a three inch screen, the LG Cookie Plus offers touchscreen functionality. A three megapixel camera is installed, and a 32 gigabyte microSD card port is included. The microSD card slot is intended to store files and music, as the LG Cookie Plus also comes with an MP3 player. The entire phone weighs a mere 91 grams.
As for the operating software, LG’s proprietary LiveSquare is installed. It comes preloaded with support for Facebook, Flickr, and Twitter. A web browser allows owners to search the Internet. An LG widget gallery brings 13 preloaded LG widgets, or applications, with varying purposes.
The vice president of marketing for LG Canada, Colin Bettram, stated, “We are so happy to bring the popular Cookie series to Canada. It is sure to add a new flavour to the Canadian market.”
The LG Cookie Plus was released on August 13th. It will be an exclusive product for TELUS Mobility for an undetermined amount of time. With a three year contract (the common length in Canada), the phone will retail for only $29.99. It will also be available for $179.99 for customers looking to purchase it without a contract. It is expected to appeal most to teenagers.
