September Release for iPhone 5 in Canada
Canadians looking forward to the release of the iPhone 5 may have to wait until September 2011, industry analysts say. If true, the late summer arrival would be a big deviation from Apple’s usual schedule of June or July iPhone releases and may interfere with future iPod upgrades, as well.
The delay seems to be vendor related, as chip suppliers have not received many orders for the iPhone 5, which has led to vendors for the touchscreen and casing to proceed slowly, too. Issues with the image sensor have also made Apple hold back and opt for taking extra time to develop and enhance the next iPhone generation.
Another contributing factor to the delay may be the mid-cycle release of a CMDA version iPhone 4, which is operational with the USA’s Verizon mobile network. While this product will probably remain tied to the USA, its appearance may affect the development cycle of the GSM iPhone everywhere else.
While Canadian iPhone users are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new device, most are quite satisfied with the fourth generation currently available. They say the only real improvements would be resolution of the antenna issue and the addition of 4g data capability.
