Ford Recalls 2013 Escape, Issues Stop Driving Order

2013 Ford Escape Owners Take Notice

A stop driving order has been released by the Ford Motor Company that applies to certain types of Escape model vehicles.

Specifically it applies to the Escapes that have a 1.6 litre four cylinder engine. This stop driving order is directed to owners of this Escape here in Canada and in the Untied States. Ford has reported that there have been approximately 4,800 Escapes of this type sold.

Ford spokesperson Marcy Zweibel told the L.A. Times “we are obviously taking very quick action in the interest of customer safety.”

A stop driving order may seem more dramatic than a typical recall, but the reason for this is due to the serious risk for injury. Ford has explained that a problem with the fuel lines has been discovered. These fuel lines have a propensity to crack and can leak gasoline on a hot engine that creates a fire.

Your local Ford dealership will be able to fix this problem, but do not attempt to drive the SUV to the dealer.

Call your Ford dealer and they will come pick up your Escape and leave you a loan car until repairs can be made.

Ford seems to be moving quickly to solve this problem and have set a goal of two weeks to make the repairs on all vehicles affected both here in Canada as well as the United States. To date, there have been no injuries because of this defect, but there have been three fires.
