Gang Leader Shot Dead in Montreal Parking Lot
Montreal Shooting Victim Was Gang Leader
The alleged leader of the notorious Bo-Gars north Montreal street gang was found dead in a parking lot Friday evening, Montreal Police said today.
According to Global Montreal, police identified the man as Chenier Dupuy, 37, of Montreal. Another unidentified man in the car was also shot and killed.
The two men were sitting in a parked vehicle at a shopping centre parking lot on the east end of the city. Hours later, another Bo-Gars member was shot dead outside his home.
Bo-Gars is an offshoot of a larger gang called the Reds. They are at war with another gang known as the Blues.
Dupuy had been recently released from prison after serving time for drug convictions.
Police are warning Montrealers that this could be the beginning of open gang warfare on Montreal streets. It’s likely that there will be a violent response to the murders, said Maria Mourani, a Federal MP of the Bloc Quebecois who is the representative for the north-end Montreal riding.
