Rob Ford’s Edmonton Football Bet Leads To Odd Facebook Posting
Mayor Rob Ford Loses Football Bet
On Tuesday, August 28, Rob Ford posted something on Facebook that he thought he would never have the post. The Toronto mayor changed his Facebook page to support the Edmonton Eskimos, even though he is an avid Toronto Argonauts. Ford also posted a message in support of the Eskimos on his Twitter account.
These postings were a result of a bet that Ford made with Stephen Mandel, the mayor of Edmonton. The two made a bet regarding the outcome of Monday’s football game between the two teams. Edmonton defeated Toronto handily with a score of 26 to 17. Since Ford lost the bet, he fulfilled his end of the bargain by promoting Edmonton, according the the Edmonton Sun,
The Toronto Argonauts and the Edmonton Eskimos are both part of the CLF, or Canadian Football League. This is not the first time that Mayor Ford has lost a bet regarding his team, and it likely will not be the last.
“He’s a fanatical football coach,” Mandel said of Ford. “He loves that more than anything, so we’re trying to make arrangements at some point in time for a game against his team versus a team in Edmonton.”
