Rapper Wale in row with Toronto Raptors Announcer

An unlikely feud erupted during Tuesday night’s NBA game between the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors. After appearing to heckle Raptors forward Rudy Gay Washington fan and rapper Wale became embroiled in a disagreement with Raptors TV commentator MAtt Devlin.

Claiming the heckles of Wale were inspiring Gay rather than upsetting his game Devlin questioned the fame of Wale and later declared “He’s no Drake!”

The final statement comparing Wale’s career to that of fellow rapper Drake appeared to touch a nerve with Wale who tweeted Devlin should watch his mouth before storming to the announcers booth and confronting Devlin. Wale claimed his appearance in the announcer’s booth was simply to introduce himself to Devlin and explain who he was.

Rapper Wale has become famous for his lyrics citing the famous figures in Washington D.C., including many of the local areas famous teams and sportspeople; Wale appears at most of the home games of Washington’s professional sports teams and was courtside for the Wizards 96-88 loss to the Raptors.
