Joan and Melissa Rivers are an extremely close mother and daughter duo who share the spotlight in a reality television show.

That closeness was magnified recently when Joan gave her daughter Melissa an injection for her fertility treatments. Melissa Rivers, 44, had a fight with her live in boyfriend and he moved out.

Melissa called on her mother Joan, 78, to perform the necessary injection to continue fertility treatments. Joan Rivers first practiced on an orange. The video clip of the show shows a clearly upset Melissa as the situation unfolded.

Joan, later made light of the situation on Twitter stating, “It was so hard for me to give Melissa her fertility drug injection after Jason walked out! It’s a good thing I never became a junkie.”

Melissa released a statement saying, “I am still trying to process what has come to light over the past few days and I hope that you will respect the privacy of my son and I while we heal.”

Another A-List star seeks treatment at Cirque Lodge

After making recent headlines Demi Moore, 49, has sough treatment at the well known Cirque Lodge in Utah. Moore is reportedly seeking treatment for an eating disorder and addiction issues.

Moore was recently hospitalized after a 911 call was made on her behalf. According to reports she “smoked something” and was having convulsions during a party at her home. There have been frequent reports of Demi partying hard with her young daughters and even chasing after much younger actors including Zac Efron.

Her ex husband, Bruce Willis, and estranged husband, Ashton Kutcher, have reportedly made visits to her home prior to her admittance into Cirque.

Cirque Lodge is an upscale rehabilitation center who has provided treatment for several A-list stars including Lindsay Lohan, Mark-Kate Olsen, Chris Klein, Kirsten Dunst, and Eva Mendes.

Republican Presidential Candidate Rick Santorum spent the weekend with his family in Pennsylvania when his daughter Bella, age 3, was hospitalized with complications from pneumonia. The complications were severe, due to a birth defect in Bella known as Trisomy 18.

Trisomy 18 is the addition of an 18th chromosome to the body of a baby during development. It is common in children conceived later in the life of the mother. It’s estimated to be present in 5,000 children each year. Trisomy 18 is not caused by any action by the parents, nor can it be prevented.

Bella Santorum brought the disorder to light with her hospitalization. Many Americans had never heard of Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards Syndrome, until Bella’s complications.

Edwards Syndrome is similar to Downs Syndrome, known as Trisomy 21. Both illnesses are linked to additional chromosomes in the body. Bella is recovering from her complications.

After a split from fellow actor, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore hit rock bottom on Monday night. The actress was reportedly doing whip-its and suffered from a seizure. The 49 year old Moore, was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Many were shocked over the reported whip-it abuse. Whip-its are considered the drug of choice for teens and is not typically used by adults. In most cases, whip-its involve inhaling large amounts of nitrous oxide.

After receiving medical intervention, Moore checked into a rehab facility for substance abuse. Moore has also decided to drop out of the upcoming movie titled Lovelace.

Her publicist has said that the troubled actress is receiving treatment for exhaustion.

Demi Moore was rushed to the hospital on Monday night. It was reported that she had been doing “whip-its”, which is a nitrous oxide inhalant. When she became unresponsive and appeared to be having a seizure, 911 was called. She was then taken to a hospital within the Los Angeles area.

On Tuesday she checked herself into a treatment facility. Her rep has confirmed that she is seeking “professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health.”

Moore’s rep has also stated that she “looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends.”

New York City began a new health campaign ad to depict the horrors of diabetes and amputation. The ad shows an clearly overweight man with only one leg and three glasses of soda.

The ad states that portions sizes have grown which may lead to diabetes. The uproar offer the graphic ad is due to the picture of the man being altered. The man who posed for the picture is not diabetic nor has he had a leg amputated.

John Kelly, a spokesman for the New York department of Public health stated to the New York Times, “Sometimes we use individuals who are suffering from the particular disease; other times we have to use actors. We might stop using actors in our ads if the food industry stops using actors in theirs.”

New York’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg said that the ad is necessary and the shock factor was part of the goal.
