The kidney specialist, Gavin Carney stated it would help the overall Australian health care system as well, bringing in more money.

A kidney, according to Carney, could sell for $50,000.

This would cut down on the waiting lists, which are currently years long, and would also act to try and stop people from going to third world countries such as Pakistan and India to buy organs.

The current waiting list for a healthy organ in Australia is around 10 years.  If organ sales were made legal, he believes the list could be cut in half within 5 years.
