The Amanda Knox Murder Trial Nearly Over

The Amanda Knox (shown in photo) murder trial is finally nearing an end in Italy.

The trial is expected to end with closing arguments November 20 and jury deliberations December 5.

“We can only hope now that a conclusion is reached in the next five weeks, so that we can finally dedicate ourselves to remember Meredith for the person that all of us knew and not as a victim or as a news item,” according to a ABCnews.com.

According to wikipedia:

The body of Meredith Kercher was discovered by Italian police at the cottage that she shared with other students in Perugia on November 2, 2007. The 21-year-old British student, who was part of a university exchange programme, was found lying partially clothed under a duvet in her bedroom. Her windpipe had been crushed and throat partially slashed.

On November 6th, 2007, police arrested two suspects, Kercher’s American flatmate, Amanda Knox, and Knox’s boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito. That day, an employer of Knox was also arrested after Knox implicated him in the crime. He was later released and exonerated after it was confirmed that he had no connection to the crime.

For anyone who is interested in the facts behind the media spin, and who cares to learn more about the victim of this terrible murder – Meredith Kercher – there is an excellent discussion board

    perugiamurderfile.freeforums.org/index.php

as well as an interesting blog

    truejustice.org/ee/index.php

These online resources are not for profit. Anyone can read and/or participate and people from around the world do. They have followed this case since November 2007, and are in no way related to Amanda Knox. Nor are they her friends.

  2. Tara Evans says:

In our office of about 60 people there is no one who believes that Amanda Knox is innocent.

  3. After reading The Monster of Florence and learning about the judge and Italy’s judicial system, I doubt that Amanda Knox is guilty.

  4. I do not think Amanda is guilty the judicial system is not what it seems. Its all a big joke! They need to find the person that did it not convict someone innocent.

  5. Tony says:

I’m American, I live in Italy and have followed the case for 2 years in English and ITALIAN. This girl, although white and not bad looking….IS A MURDERER! Put your emotions away and analyze the FACTS of the case.

  6. Gerald Jolly says:

These are the true facts about the Amanda Knox murder case.
The prosecutor Giuliano Mignini is currently under investigation and possible impeachement for breaching the codes of conduct under Italian law.
The police department that claimed to have DNA evidence now claim that it has been lost or misplaced and cannot be found.
The sitting Judge and Mr. Mignini have lunches and diners together on a regular basis, something that is absolutely forbidden under British Law as we practice in both the U.S. and Canada.
The coroner has been repremanded several times before in other cases for fabricating evidence on behalf of the prosecution.
Amanda’s knowledge of the convicted killer is only one brief meeting in a bar months before the killing, hardly a case for collusion between her and the murderer.
What is happening in Perugia, is a case of absolute injustice, and the prosecutor has been investigated for offering to accept money from Amanda’s supporters in order to make the case “GO AWAY”
    A TRAVESTY OF JUSTICE??? ABSOLUTELY.
SOUR WINE, AND BAD SPAGHETTI do not make a case for murder.

  7. Guy says:

I have analyzed the facts in detail and I have no doubt she is innocent. I done business in Italy for over 20 years and know full well the ‘justice’ in Italy’s local judicial system. For all of those that are convinced of Knox’s guilt I pray that they never find themselves erroneously charged with a crime in Italy.

  8. Pauline says:

Gerald Jolly, posts like yours make the Knox PR campaign participants, including Friends of Amanda Knox and relatives appear untrustworthy.

It would not be in the prosecutors powers to make the case go away.

Amanda lied numerous times and she has been outright contradicted by witnesses who have no reason to lie, unlike Amanda Knox.

  9. Pauline says:

Some fantasists seem to believe if you lie repeatedly and have no alibi than this is indicative of innocence.

A rational person would ask the question, why is this person lying and what has she got to hide?

  10. Jeter says:

Why did Amanda intentionally accuse an innocent black man?

Why did her boyfriend lie about cooking for the victim when asked to explain how her DNA wound up on a knife in his kitchen?

  11. InMyOp says:

All I have to ask is what version of Knox’s story is true?? That is the real question – this incident although unfortunate for her family – seems to be very very clear – she is guilty and is now ‘playing’ innocent. I have followed the case since it happened and I feel for her mis-guided actions but some on – fess up.

  12. slaney121212 says:

Making out with her boyfriend and doing cartwheels the morning after the murder does not make her guilty, but she was definitely involved in some way with the killing. She should have come clean about who did what instead of hiding behind “oh, I was on drugs” defense. I think the Italian court will find her guilty.

  13. Nancy says:

I don’t understand: there is a whole crime scence, where 3 people allegedly committed a horrible murder, and all the police could find (besides the numerous prints left by the black guy) are 2 tiny inconclusive DNA fragments from Knox and Sollecito? I have also been wondering why Sollecito would have left the scene of the orgy to rush home and grab a knife from his own kitchen?
In conclusion, none of us can form an opinion from the incomplete info we are getting from the press.

  14. Christopher says:

She is innocent no question…. Italian system is a joke… I pray that the corruption doesn’t spread to the jury! No question only 1 person was responsible… and he has already been convicted…

  15. CallMeRay says:

The simple answer is the murderers were incompetent liars — liars who cracked under pressure and couldn’tt admit the truth.

  16. Mark Stone says:

For those of you who are U.S. citizens becrying Italy’s poor justice system you should look closer at the our own country. I’m sorry to report from personal experience it is just as easy to be falsely accused here as it is anywhere else, and if you don’t have God or a whole lot of money on your side very easily convicted. Fortunately God looks out for me.

  17. WILD says:

    1) AMANDA SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN INTERVIEWED BY THE POLICE WITHOUT A TRANSLATOR TO TRANSLATE FOR HER.
    2) THE PROSECTOR SEEMS TO THINK THAT SHE AND HER BOYFRIEND WERE DEVIL WORSHIPPERS AND THAT’S WHY MEREDITH WAS KILLED AS PART OF THEIR DEVIL WORSHIPPING WAYS – WHICH IS TOTALLY WITHOUT FOUNDATION.
    3) THE SO-CALLED DNA THEY HAD WAS A MERE SPECK OF BLOOD THAT WAS IN ACTUALITY TOO SMALL A SAMPLE FOR DNA TO BE EXTRACTED.
    4) AS FOR LOOKING FOR THE REAL MURDERER,WELL HE’S ALREADY IN PRISON IN CONNECTION WITH THIS CRIME (RUDY HERMANN GUEDE).

THE FOLLOWING IS FROM WIKIPEDIA:”On 28 October 2008, Guede was convicted of conspiracy to murder Kercher in a “fast-track” trial. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.[4] The trial of the two remaining suspects, Amanda Knox and her former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, began on January 16, 2009. It is expected that a verdict will be announced in December of 2009.”

CHECK OUT DATELINE,48 HOURS AND 20/20 AND YOU’LL SEE WHY AMANDA AND RAFFAELE ARE BEING RAILROADED.

THANK YOU ALL AND GOOD NIGHT

  18. nyambia says:

The actions after the murder, falsely accusing the black man and the ‘i was on drugs’ excuse is the same modus taken by many guilty people.
Those yelling about the Italian justice system, shame on you! How many people in the USA have been wrongly accused of crimes they never committed and even executed only for DNA to prove they were innocent? People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.
She was certainly involved in this murder.

  19. neal says:

Probably not enough evidence to convict her in the USA. Fact is the laws in Italy are different and you may be guilty until proven innocent which is why so much focus is placed on suspicious behavior instead of factual evidence. Do not go to foriegn countries and exect US rights and laws to protect you. Whether she is guilty or not we may never know; however, I believe she will probably be convicted under Italian law.

  20. Gerald Jolly says:

Pauline, you prove with absolute naivite, your ignorance.
If you had an ounce of gray matter, you would know that making a case “GO AWAY” is just another term for. I WILL DO SUCH A BAD JOB OF PROSECUTING THIS CASE, THAT IT WILL BE THROWN OUT OF COURT.
Tell me Pauline, did your parents have any children that lived??

In Canada or Britain or the U.S. this case would have been thrown out immediately when the prosecution were found complicit in any unsavory activity.
We can only conclude that you probably drink CHEAP RED WINE, AND WORK AS A SPAGHETTI BENDER somewhere

  21. James says:

I feel sorry for Amanda Knox. I know for a fact the jury will convict Amanda and her boyfriend Raffaele Sollectito. I know how the court system works. I love you Amanda, God Bless You.

  22. Hank Mardukas says:

    Good Q, Jeter!

Why DID Rafaelle Sollecito lie about “pricking” Meredith while cooking for her?

(Meredith had never been to his apartment – hell, he’d only known Amanda for 6 days!)

  23. Tess says:

Gerald Jolly: You said these were “true facts about the Amanda Knox murder case” –
Guiliano Mignini is currently under investigation…blah, blah. Yes, he is, but that is not a fact OF THE CASE. If he’s a scumbag, that doesn’t mean she’s innocent.

The judge and Mignini have lunches and dinners, and it’s against British law. A) Italy is not England. B) That is not a fact OF THE CASE. Their lunches don’t make her innocent.

Amanda’s knowledge of the convicted killer is one brief meeting…yadda. Not a FACT. It’s conjecture. That is actually one of the things up for debate.

There are three, perchance four people who know the TRUE FACTS OF THE CASE. One of them can no longer speak for herself, and the others are lying. And in my book? Knowledge of a crime, and the willingness to cover it up, should earn you a spot in jail. So. Even if she didn’t do the deed, she knows more than she’s said so far.

  24. Lara says:

The overwhelming evidence will result in a conviction.

  25. chris says:

    Daniel Radcliffe Sollecito is innocent!

  26. Jessica says:

You know at first when i heard about this case i automatically assumed Amanda Knox was guilty, but after this trial and reading through all the evidence i believe she is innocent and she will be found not guilty! There clearly isn’t enough to convict her. I dont care what anyone one has to say this is just my opinion!

  27. PKS says:

    Guilty, without any doubt whatsoever!

  28. PM says:

Well, someone (partially) cleaned up the scene; someone with a foot smaller than Guede’s left a bloody footprint on the bathmat, but no visible bloody prints led to or from it. And there were fresh spatters of a mix of Amanda’s and Meredith’s blood in the bathroom, which Amanda testified were not there before the murder. The defense has not disputed this evidence.

Amanda and Raffaele were on the scene with a mop and bucket when police surprised them by showing up the next day. And Amanda and Raffaele immediately lied to police about things such as whether or not they’d phoned police already.

    Looks very bad for them.

  29. Julia R says:

The sniper of Washington received justice and it has been carried out.

The Monster of Washington will receive a mild form of justice in December as there is no death penalty in Italy.

    What goes around comes around.

  30. Jo Clark says:

“Those yelling about the Italian justice system, shame on you! How many people in the USA have been wrongly accused of crimes they never committed and even executed only for DNA to prove they were innocent? People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.”

We Americans have every right to criticize anybody’s justice system, especially if it involves one of our citizens. The rest of the world certainly criticizes the USA so if the world can dish it out to us, they’d better be ready to take it!

  31. Arose says:

If Amanda Knox is convicted for this crime that she CLEARLY had nothing to do with, there will be a backlash from those of us Americans in Italy in the coming spring. Nothing violent, I mind you. But we will not take this sitting down. She is innocent of this crime. In fact, the only regrets Ms. Knox SHOULD have, bless her heart, is that she picked the wrong apartment to live in. It could have been anyone’s roommate. It could have been MY roommate. The judicial system in Italy laughable. They convicted a man but saw publicity in a young free-spirited American woman. It is pure exploitation.

  32. Sawedoffsky says:

Yes, bash the Italian system and threaten Italy, that
will really help to get your psycho murderess off.
It isn’t LA and she isn’t OJ.

  33. Andrea says:

22 years old, cold-heartedly smart (who would do gymnastics in a police station the day after your friend – as Amanda Knox entitled dead Meredith – was killed in your appartment?), never nervous, never sorry, and playing games toughly – the only remarkable thing about Amanda Knoy is her strong intention to survive that murder which, I believe, she committed. I hope she will get what she deserves and wake up to what human relations are meant to be, although it is much too late.
