Sammy Sosa has elaborated on the products he’s used that have caused his skin to lighten to drastically.
The former slugger admits that he used a skin bleaching cream, a fact he initially denied.
Sosa appeared on a Univision program and shed light on his lightened skin:
“I’m doing well, doing well, thanks to God. A little surprised by the tsunami of attention,” Sosa said in a Spanish interview with Univision reporter Tony Dandrades Tuesday. “”It’s a bleaching cream that I apply before going to bed and whitens my skin some.”
Sosa raised eyebrows when he was photographed at the latin Grammy’s
“I use a cream to keep my skin smooth and soft. I apply it before I go to bed. When I was playing for Chicago all those years, I was in the sun a lot for 1 o’clock games,” Sosa initially said. “The flashes (from the cameras) also made my skin look lighter. I’m surprised with the controversy this has caused.”
Sosa, who also wears colored contacts, said he uses the cream as a moisturizer and is in discussions to market it.

1st off his skin color is black or brown. But it’s his ethnitcity that is different. So if your going to try and correct people correct them with the right info. but being a man of color it is disheartinging to see a successful man of color dramatically change his appearance to suit white america. Even though his skin will be white his features will always reflect his ethnicity but again he can change that too.
This is very pitiful that he feels he needs to change his skin color to “fit-in”. He was amazing at his craft of baseball nad he should have let that speak for itself. Michael ackson did it, now sammy who next????????????? Sad Sad Sad
mtreat9… As a person of non color, your racist comment about changing his color to suit white America is not appreciated. I did not say anything to Sammy Sosa about his skin color. He changed it on his own for his own reasons. It had nothing to do with whites forcing him to do this.

To Carole, no offense please wake up, a Utopia we are not. Sammy has done something clearly weird which is why all of us are commenting. Sun damage is nothing but Hype. This guy suffers from denial with major inner race issues. Money fame is not enough, he has to have the white looking woman, and also be white.

Your opinion is typical of most of the people I work with. unfortunately I gotta give kudos to you for admitting how you feel. Most Caucasians hide it until they get upset or out number you.
