Man In Elf Costume Arrested For Bomb Threat

A man dressed in an elf costume was arrested in Georgia after allegedly telling a mall Santa that he had a bomb.

Authorities in Georgia  said William Caldwell III, 45, was standing in line at the Southlake Mall to have his photo taken with  Santa.

According to the Atlanta Journal- Constitution Caldwell told St Nick that he had a bag full of dynamite.

“He told Santa Claus that he had dynamite in his bag,” James Callaway, the Morrow police captain, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“He said that two times to Santa Claus.”

Not taking any chances, Santa quickly called police.

After Caldwell was arrested, a bomb squad determined the dynamite threat was a hoax.

Caldwell was booked into the Clayton County Jail on charges of having hoax devices, making terrorist threats, false imprisonment, simple assault, reckless conduct, disorderly conduct and false public alarm.

Investigators said Caldwell was dressed as a Christmas elf but had no affiliation with the mall — or Santa.
