The first baby of a new year is always a big deal in any hospital. They may even get their picture in the newspaper with their proud parents. If by chance it happens to be twins all the better.
This year a Florida mother topped all these previous firsts by delivering twins by Caesarian section.
Baby Marcello was delivered just a few minutes before midnight in 2009. Making him possibly the last baby born in 2009 at least at that hospital. She then went on to deliver baby Stephano minutes later in 2010 making him the first baby in 2010.
This also made the twins born not only on different days, not only in different years but also in different decades.
When interviewed their parents, Juan and Margarita Velasco, said he thought it would be a lot of fun for the babies to have their birthday parties on different days when they get a little older.
Both the boys were delivered 10 weeks premature after a high-risk pregnancy are expected to have to remain in the hospital for a period (up to two months), but should go home and lead normal, happy lives.
How neat! The boys will have a lot of fun with this when they get a little older.
I have twin granddaughters age 3. Such a Blessing!

I hate to break the bad news but we have not entered into a new decade yet. Until this year has passed we are still in the first decade. Nine dollars and ten cents does not ten dollars make. Nine years and nine dats does not a decade make.
