Mind-Reading Scanners for Airport Security?

Mind-reading scanners may soon be a part of airport security. Security experts say that a new approach to airport security is needed which moves beyond detecting the items a person carries to using a mind-reading scanner to determine the travelers motivation.

One such mind-reading scanner, produced by WeCU Technology, is already being tested in Israel. This device uses images projected onto airport security screens that only a terrorist would be likely to recognize. The mind-reading scanners, which consist of both humans and sensors, observe the person’s reactions to the symbols. The scanners are trained or programmed to detect slight changes in eye movement and body language, or changes in body temperature or heart rate, which indicate suspicious behavior.

Other mind-reading systems rely on scanning facial movements and pupil dilation for involuntary reactions which indicate malicious motives. These mind-reading scanners would most likely be implemented in the near future for people pulled aside for searches, but could eventually be used as people pass through security checkpoints.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Homeland Security are both interested in using the mind-reading scanners and have given grants to Israeli-based WeCU for further research and development.

Great just what we need more of our rights taken… how about we just reduce the terrorist homelands to rubble and be done with them?

    • Adam Bodnar says:

I would agree that this could and will probably only lead to more of our rights being taken away… however, are you sure you know who the terrorists are? maybe you should take a closer look at those taking our rights away…

You know, all terrorists think alike…

Are they going to account for people who are afraid of heights and get nervous as they get close to the plane?

Anyone notice that the new scanners use X-Rays like dental scanners, the dentist always leaves the room because of the radiation. So what happens to people who fly more than 1 every two years ?

You guys should check out “Conspiracy Theories” on TruTV, its a pretty good show and makes you think about things. I mean they’re already watching you drive, talk on the phone, and probably watching you on the computer as well.
I noticed that as well. Are they using X-Rays to scan people? If so…what about pregnant people or those who have plates or the like in their bodies? Wouldn’t that be unsafe?

The new scanners use rays that are 1000 times less energetic then a typical X-ray. So you could have around 3 a day for an entire year and that would only be the equivalent of one normal X-Ray.

Brent, you dont think conspiracy theorists actually care about facts, do you?

now ive heard it all.read my mind now!!!!!thats crazy

Wonderful, let’s keep handing victory after victory over to the terrorists.

    Unreal.

Oh that’ll be great for frequent flyer business passengers! Get a couple of MRI’s or three every week – should develop Brain cancer in about a year!

The best thing we should do is boycott all flights to USA or aie space over the States until these scanners are shut down!

Excuse me, there was a typo on last article entry! So, hence a double entry!

If it were an MRI like scan maybe we could catch diseases earlier. Make it worth while even if it doesn’t really stop bad people. Even a noninternal scan could with the right software detect many common health problems, not just questionable carry-on baggage, maybe email a confidential report to the ticket holders. Just a thought.

Just like the lie detector, debunked pseudoscience garbage. Middle eastern countries will always jump on that trash. Remember Iraq defense minister is trying to get their forces to use bomb detectors (more debunked pseudoscience) instead of the tried and true method… dogs.

Better proposition for airlines and airports:
Undress every passenger naked. Hand-cuff them. Place in cargo planes or luggage compartments. Do not feed them (Air Canada already does not). Abuse them the way you want (Air Canada already does). Do not worry – you have a great excuse: SECURITY!!! You’ll also save some effort on cleaning cabins and washrooms. When in some years nobody will fly, you may cry for government help and surely get a bailout with a few dozens of billions dollars. Unfortunately it will not help on a long run, so regardless of years of “service” as unionized workers for a better pension take some training in a local coffee shop in order to prepare for “lovely” retirement. May be then, other generations of airlines and airport personnel will bring back common sense, respect to ones who pay them, service etc. Or I‘m too optimistic here?
