Vicious Beagles Terrorize Long Island Community

Long Island residents have a new menace to worry about, attack Beagles. Yes, members of the the same cute, cuddly, and lovable breed that cartoon icon Snoopy belongs to are terrorizing residents of Long Island.

While the small, short legged, brown and white dogs may be cute individually a barking snarling group of them would be enough to send most residents seeking safety indoors.

It’s thought that the pack of aggressive beagles has formed due to an irresponsible practice followed by some local hunters. Beagles raised as hunting dogs which do not perform up to standard are sometimes “let go” in the surrounding woods. These abandoned beagles are following canine instinct and bonding together into a pack. Apparently abandoning under performing dogs is an annual tradition for some unscrupulous hunters and is well known to animal shelters in the area.

The pack of now wild beagles have threatened pets, and even some people in the Long Island community of Mattituck. Two local shelters are helping to alleviate the problem though and have five of the rogue beagles in custody, ready to be adopted to caring homes.

In light of the behavior of the Long Island beagles one has to wonder if Charlie Brown will be sleeping with one eye open, and if Woodstock will still feel safe sleeping on his canine friends stomach.
