Most parents ground their teenage daughters after they have been busted talking or acting inappropriate with boys. Unfortunately in Turkey, the punishment for disobeying parents strict rules concerning boys, means dying a horrible death.
A 16 year old girl was buried alive by her father and grandfather after they determined she had been talking to boys, again. 2 months earlier they had severely beaten her for the same offense. She had gone to the police begging for help, but was turned away.
The adults in the family decided the young girl’s fate after a family meeting. The male members buried the girl alive near their home. The girl’s grave was cemented over and not discovered until 40 days after she had been brutally murdered. Her family had reported her missing shortly after burying her. A tip led police to her grave.
The autopsy report stated she was indeed alive at the time of burial. Her lungs and stomach were filled with soil. The incident is being deemed an “honor killing” by the family. Such practices are seen as barbaric and archaic by the rest of the world, but they are still common in Turkey. Officials suspect at least 200 “honor killings” happen every year.

most of these honor killings are commited by the kurdish population of Turkey, last year I saw the stoning and burning of a girl in Iraq’s kurdistan, my heart goes out for those innocent girls
