Transgendered Thomas Beatie Expecting Third Child

Thomas Beatie, a transgender male, claims he is legally a male. He was previously known as Tracy. Tracy was a beauty queen representing the state of Hawaii. He had sexual reassignment surgery in 2002; however, he kept his female reproductive organs in tact so that he would be able to give birth.

Beatie’s wife, Nancy, appeared with him on the Oprah show. There he explained that the pair can have sexual relations. Beatie, born a woman, had his breasts surgically removed. He has legally changed his gender from female to male. He did not undergo phalloplasty, the creation of a penis, but his testosterone treatments has changed his clitoris so it is a small penis. His wife cannot have a child because she had a hysterectomy.

The couple’s first child, Susan, was born in 2008. The pair used a sperm donor to conceive. Following this Beatie told Barbara Walters that he was pregnant again. In 2009, Beatie, 35, and his wife Nancy, 46, were proud parents to a boy. Both births were natural childbirth.

Beatie was given the knickname of “the pregnant man,” during the first pregnacy. He is thought to be the first transgendered man to give birth. It was learned that Beatie stopped taking testosterone so he could become pregnant the first time. It appears that he decided to have all of the children they want before he goes back on the hormone. Originally he wanted to have two children. For whatever reasons the couple seem elated that they will soon have a third baby to add to their family.

that is so stupid. that person still is a woman. a man can NOT have children.

  2. BarbeeZee says:

Sorry, but that’s no part of a man. It’s an abomination! Real men don’t get pregnant!

  3. Zigana says:

I think it is wonderful that they are able to have a family and to find happiness together. It is not our place as humans to judge the work of God in any form.

    • ramilia says:

it is not the work of God that human beings take their GOD GIVEN sex and surgically alter who God made them to be. nothing Godly about it. it’s sick

  4. Wendy says:

So stupid. She’s a woman. Not a man. Although she is more like “it”…whatever. This is a total abomination.

  5. Sandy says:

That’s nice they are living life the way they want, but Tracy/Thomas is STILL a woman!!

  6. Maijken says:

what is so wrong about this? for all intents and purposes, this person is a man. open your minds people. stop being so shallow.

    • Yankey says:

If science can make a man give birth, what’s bad about it? Is giving birth a bad thing? If not, does it matter who does it – man or woman?

  7. Brittney says:

I think people need to relax who give a flying fuck if they want to have children it shouldnt matter male female. people need to grow up enough with this God nonsense.

  8. Wysha says:

I don’t know what all the hype is. Thomas is a man, and should be seen as one. He’s pregnant, but that does not mean that he’s a woman. It’s the same the other way around.

To all who think that think he’s still female, I’ve got some advice: shut up, and let him be male.

  9. Jim says:

Hope they save up for intensive therapy money for their children. Their children are going to need it. Be more open minded and stop being shallow? Please. Those are the hard facts.

    I am a Male Lesbian!

  11. George says:

Let’s see a woman masaquarading a man masquarading as a woman. They call this a man, come on, men are not anatomically correct for child bearing. I took Anatomy 101 my first year in college so I know these things. LOL!

  12. Sandi T. says:

the fact that he/she is going public indicates that soon we will have a new reality t.v. show. I am so sick of hearing this kind of news. If they want a baby fine, but please stop refering to this person as the pregnant man. There is no such thing. Just because her breasts are removed still makes her a woman. I had a hysterctomy, my aunt had her breasts removed due to cancer, but she and I are still women…bottom line. hair on the face is a product of a pill. Whatever she wants to call herself her reproductive organs are a woman’s. She is trying to say she “thinks like a man” when she gets up everday. I have had to think for my husband on many occasions, I am still a woman. Am I missing something here?

  13. Michele says:

I’m so sick of this headline. When will the media stop this nonsense.

I’m happy this couple wants to start, and have a family and that they are successful in do so, but please stop using false headlines to gather fame.

    This is not a man.

Taking off boobs and changing your name does not make one a man. Thomas may look male and want to be male, but he/she is still a woman biologically (she even kept her female reproductive organs). Therefore, it is a woman who is giving birth (again), and really not noteworthy news at all.

Stop giving these people attention for something that is done everyday buy other women all around the world. There is no miracle of science here.

Usually, I’m all for whatever floats your boat. But if you’re going to make a choice as big as a sex change, you should be able to live with all the future choices you won’t be able to make because of the one you’re about to make. If you want to be a man instead of a woman, you give up your privilege to BEAR a child. It is hard enough for people to give respect to LGBT’s as it is, if you are making what appears to be an open mockery of the life you CHOSE to lead, how are you making anything easier for other people trying to live a quiet, respectable and dignified life? Also, why do you feel the need to alert the media every time? Is your desire to be who you are genuine, or do you just like the spotlight and fracas that ensue every time you conceive?! Please, live your life in peace and happiness, but live it as though you are representing others like yourself, because you ARE. And right now, it’s a hard place to be in. Thank you.

  16. Ms.J says:

    Men cannot have children.

  17. 42331475 says:

that is imposible.it is aginst nature

  18. Eric says:

    Biologically she’s still a woman.

Socially, he has become a man through perceived social reality. ANd honestly, that’s all it takes to be a man today. You think you’re a man, there is a carrying capacity to resocialize you as a man, and you are a man.
