7 Year Old Saves Family from Gunmen

A seven year old boy is being hailed a hero after he dialed 911 and potentially saved his family from being murdered or seriously injured. The boy’s family were the victims of a home invasion robbery with at least three gunmen involved around 8:30 this morning in Norwalk, California.

The young hero locked himself and his six year old sister in a bathroom and dialed 911. He tells the dispatcher a horrifying story of his mom and dad being held at gunpoint in the family’s living room. While he is begging the dispatcher to send help quickly, the door is opened and children’s screams fill the air. The gunmen are heard yelling at the children and repeatedly asking who they called.

More screaming and loud voices are heard on the line but the dispatcher was unable to get a response from her young caller. During the commotion, the gunmen were scared off by the boy’s revelation that he had 911 on the line.

The cowardly gunmen fled the scene without injuring the family or taking any valuables. Captain Pat Maxwell of the Norwalk Police Department attributes the family’s safety to the actions of the little boy. Police have not released the family’s identity.

That such a sweet little boy, his sister, and their parents were subjected to such a nightmare is simply heartbreaking. Thank goodness his remarkable bravery and quick thinking spared them all physical harm, but emotionally that family must be reeling. One can only hope the low-life perpetrators of this crime will be soon apprehended and severly punished.
