Investigators found the body near the New Orleans Steamboat Company dock near their steamboat, The Natchez.

After viewing security footage at the company, it showed that Shantz had scaled a restricted area fence and the footage showed that no one had returned. He had last been seen in the 500 block of Bourbon Street.
Douglas Shantz was a Houston area energy company executive of Sequent Energy Management and had been in New Orleans to meet with other energy execs.
He was last seen at a bar in the French Quarter and others said that he stayed behind at the bar.
