Little Billy’s Letters: A Strange Social Commentary

10-year-old Little Billy Geerhart has sent letters to hundreds of famous (and infamous) people over the years, asking their advice on a plethora of topics. Scribbled onto elementary school lined paper, his questions were often thought provoking, and filled with such an innocent honesty that even some of the world’s most powerful people responded.

Who knew that Little Billy Geerhart was actually William Geerhart, an unemployed screenwriter in his 30s? By channeling his innermost child, William Geerhart reached out to a selection of lobbyists, movie stars, celebrities, serial killers, and others…and got quite the response.

Geerhart saved copies of all of his letters, as well as the responses, and now, years after his inquisitive little alter ego sent out his probing, pencil-written requests, he is releasing a compilation of 120 of his favorite letters and responses. The title, though a mouthful, says it all; Little Billy’s Letters: An Incorrigible Inner Child’s Correspondence with the Famous, Infamous, and Just Plain Bewildered. No one is spared within this book; the Busch corporation, the Catholic church, the Son of Sam, Robert Shapiro, and even Dan Quayle himself received letters from ‘Little Billy’, and all responded readily to the eager, boyish mind of ‘Billy’.
