A British couple is facing jail time for the crime of kissing in Dubai. It is an extreme sentence if served, but the couple should have been aware of the Muslim propensity for jailing those who show emotion. The British man lives in Dubai. They were arrested in November, after a Dubai mother thought the incident was indecent and was witnessed by her child.

The couple were also charged with consuming alcohol, another crime, and touching in addition to kissing. The sentence meted out was jail time for a month. April 4th. is the date the appeal of the two kissing individuals might be overturned.

The couple denies it was kissing but instead just a form of greeting each other. This is the third time that Britons have run afoul of the law in Dubai. This Muslim Emirate attracts fun loving people who love going to the beach. It is a modern nation. It should be expected when you cater to tourists, that some of them will end up kissing and touching.

Conventional thought is that the sentence will be overturned on appeal in April. It is not likely that these two will show much emotion in public again. However, they did escape flogging which would have been their sentence in Saudi Arabia.
