Some lucky New Jersey Powerball player, who bought their ticket at Gene’s Market and Deli in Morris Plains is a little more than $211 million dollars richer today. The winner has not yet been identified.

The lucky numbers were 6, 16, 20, 31, and 36. The Powerball number was 8. The Power Play number was 5. The Powerball drawings are held in 41 states. The District of Columbia as well as the Virgin Islands also participate in the Wednesday and Saturday night drawings. Ironically, New Jersey just joined the Powerball contest last month so this is the first big win in that state.

Sales for the Powerball jackpot continued to soar up to the last minute a person could purchase a ticket. When it was all said and done the prize reached over two hundred and eleven million bucks. Additionally, there were four tickets sold in Florida that matched the five base numbers. Each of these tickets is worth $200,000. Those lucky winners would have seen their winnings go to one million each had they purchased the $1 Power Play.

If a person should be lucky enough to win the next Powerball contest on Wednesday their earnings will slip back to $20 million.
