Jogger Meets His Death When Struck By Plane

On March 16, 2010 on the South Carolina beach a father of two was struck by a plane. He was jogging with his music in his ear. He never knew what hit him. Ed Smith the pilot was on his way home from Florida when the plane began to have an oil leak.

He intended to make an emergency landing at the Hilton Head Island Airport, but the propeller stopped working and an immediate emergency landing was necessary. The Pilot and his friend were fine, but Robert Jones, the jogger, was killed on impact.

Now an investigation is underway. Smith was flying an experimental single engine plane in which he built. Apparently he is a part of a local aviation group. This particular group treasures themselves with plane building. The reason for the malfunction is still unknown. It is also still unknown how this emergency landing killed Jones.

According to his best friend Smith is very emotionally affected by the incident, and although he is physically sound he is far from being okay. It might take a few days before all of the facts are known, but regardless this is a sad day for all those who are directly or indirectly involved.

That’s overly shocking. Seriously, not the brightest idea, flying an experimental plane anywhere near the public. The black swan strikes again…
