On Monday, the world’s shortest man died. He Pingping, the 21 year old Chinese dwarf who over the past couple of years had become internationally known and was an idol in China, has died of only what doctors have explained as heart problems. He had recently been hospitalized with heart complications. He was 2 feet, 5 inches tall.

Pingping had been recognized by the Guiness World Book of Records as the shortest man on the planet. In no time he became an international sensation. He had his pictures of him taken with other Guiness’ record holders such as the leggiest woman and the world’s tallest man. There are scores of videos of him on the internet of him dancing and in his hip hop clothes as he was fan of dancing.

Pingping was most revered for his outgoing nature despite his condition. Guniess World Book of Records editor in chief Craig Glenday has expressed his sentiments in the death of He Pingping saying ‘that I always knew that (Pingping) was special…we were very happy that he was able to travel around the world…he done alot despite of his challenges and in the end he was able to make a huge impact on the world.’

According to Glenday, the world’s shortest man title will now go to Khagendra Magar of Nepal, who comes in at a very minute 22 inches tall.
