Out on a morning jog, and plugged into his MP3, a 38 year old man in South Carolina never heard the small plane coming in behind him for an emergency landing. In what has to be one of the weirdest accidents, Robert Jones, was struck and killed from behind when a small plane made an emergency landing on Hilton Head Beach.

Jones was out for a jog on the beach. A pharmaceutical sales rep, Jones was in the area on a business trip. He lived with his wife and 2 year old daughter in the suburbs of Atlanta. He was killed instantly by the plane when it struck him from behind.

The plane was headed for Virginia when it began to leak oil. Shortly after that a propeller fell off the plane and the pilot had to come in for an emergency landing. The plane was literally gliding and not making any noise.

Edward Smith was the only passenger aboard the plane and escaped unharmed. When Smith was questioned about the accident he was very upset and did not wish to comment. He replied to reporters that he just killed a man and tore up his plane, he can’t deal with reporters right now.
