A spectacular scene occurred in the skies of Australia early Saturday morning as spectators became excited with the possibility that they were witnessing a rare experience of watching a UFO. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a remarkable bright light that became brighter and brighter as it swirled around in rapid circular motions.

Astronomers believed it to be a rocket that Cape Canaveral had launched and now was being observed over Australia’s eastern provinces of Queensland, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

The sighting lasted for about 2-3 minutes as spectators compared the exciting light show to a giant gyrating moon that had a swirl in the center. Others said it looked like a lit up speeding cloud. The news hit the internet quickly as captured video was released of the spectacular light show and UFO enthusiasts examined the video of the mysterious unidentified flying object.

Sydney Observatory stand-in curator, astronomer Andrew Jacob believes the sighting was probable due to SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket which had been launched early Friday morning. Jacob stated that the light was heading in the wrong direction for it to be a rare astronomical happening and had eliminated the chance of it being a comet or a meteor shower.
