The goal was to simply add 10 rubber bands at a time until the watermelon in question burst open.

The number quickly reaches 50 with no results, so the guys just kept adding more, at the rate of 10 at a time.
According to the video, which has now gone viral, it finally took around 500 rubber bands before the giant fruit erupted like a volcano bent on ultimate destruction.
