According to media reports Friday, Oprah Winfrey has made the decision to remove gospel music singer BeBe Winans from her Karaoke Challenge because of pending domestic assault charges against him.
Gossip website TMZ reported how the media mogul publicly rebuked R&B star Chris Brown for his domestic dispute with singer Rihanna, but had longtime friend Winans on her show to promote his new CD with sister CeCe Winans.
BeBe & CeCe appeared on ‘Oprah’ on Friday, Oct. 23 and performed a new song called ‘Grace.’ After the performance, Winfrey announced: “You’ll be seeing more of BeBe in my Karaoke Challenge later this season.”
Winfrey spokesman Don Halcombe says Winans is off the karaoke segment, reports the AP.
Benjamin “BeBe” Winans is a Grammy Award-winning gospel and R&B singer. He is a member of the noted Winans family, most members of which are also gospel artists.

I have read excerpts of the police report and this situation is a prime example of the double standard in this world! This man was trying to keep his ex-wife from assaulting him by pushing her away from him… She was not ASSAULTED…hell he was the one being attacked, but because of all the “attention” domestic violence has gotten, men cannot defend themselves!!

Some women (like in BeBe’s situation) try to make a man simply “touch” them so they can cry wolf! Wow! I am shocked. But I’m not there. I love the Winans and their music. As a woman, I sort of agree with Walter. We want equal rights and equal treatment and I’m all for that. But at the same time I’ve seen women slap, punch, kick and bite men and when the man tries to defend himself or stop the woman from hitting him..HE’S the one who gets charged!
And this I’ve seen 1st hand on more than one occassion. Again, I don’t know the specifics of this case nor do I know the particulars in the Fenty/Brown (Rhianna/Chris) case.

I was very surprised about the news! I also want to ask the question, along with YELLAROSE1066, at what point did Opra know about this; before or after her show? I don’t believe he should be blackballed at this time I have been very surprised about Ms.Opra at the stance she has taken re; the government. I believe the ‘godess’ issue has gone to her head. she has lost my respect. I believe CeCe is grieved after the decision that was made about BeBe- Maybe Opra didn’t hear the words of their song GRACE.

Any type of violence is unfortunate, we are talking “Domestic Violence” here which carries a lot of intimate feelings being transformed to negative energy against the backdrop emotions. Whatever happened between BeBe and the other person no-one will ever know let alone be proven. I like Oprah a lot but we are failing to realize the position she is in here. This story is not about the Domestic Violence that happened between these two people, it’s about the stance that Oprah is taken. It’s like a pre-employment test, you say what need to be said to get the job now that doesn’t mean that’s how you feel but it’s the corporate/political response to keep our personal interest affloat. I’m sure when this thing blows over there will be some sort of reconciliation that will guide brother BeBe back into the light that we all know is genuine of him. As far as Oprah, lets allow her some “Grace” as well and she will surely come through as solid as the reputation she has built over the years.

This is really an unfortunate incident. There are a lot of people will be damaged due to this situation. I agree that women should never be beaten, hit, pushed or whatever…I will tell you this,,,my ex was a little pit bull and would get in my face, push, push, and slap at me…I found the cure….As long as there wasn’t a weapon that could cause deadly harm,,, I would grab the first bucket, bowl, or 64 oz cup: Fill it with ice cold water….YOU ALL ALREADY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!!! Oh Please! This news about bebe’s assault on his ex-wife hit the exact same time the RiRi incident happened. In fact, it happened 1 week later, but no one reported it or made a big issue of it like they did with Chris Brown. And while we are on this subject…little miss riri has no place crying because she is just as guilty of abuse as chris is. She also hit chris numerous times through her own admittence! She has no business speaking on my behalf or anybody else’s. It’s all about her album anyway… nice timing.
It’s great that Oprah is being consistent by not having him on until after this matter is settled. Having said that, I think Bebe is probably innocent. He did not cause any injuries, he is only being accused of pushing his wife & that may have been in self-defense. Still, Oprah is a strong advocate against domestic violence so this was not the best time for him to be hosting her karaoke challenge.
I think that we should wait until it goes to court. He has not been found quilty yet.

BeBe is a great singer but he is also human and has emotions just like everyone else. I hope it is not true but if it is and he is found guilty then I hope he will go and get some help. I concur with Walter. Every living soul goes through stages in their lifetime. Oprah did too during her free to be me stage before she became nationaly famous. Some can easily overcome their obtacles, others find them harder and some let their obtacles defeat them. There are always 2 sides to any story and lets be real, its not always the man who is the agresser(sp). Some of us find it harder to seek the help we need especially if we are public figures. Nobody perfect. I personally am tired of perfect humans.

First of all Bebe did not beat her or abused her. He pushed her. She is trying to get the spotlight so that she can get money. They have been divorced for a while and now all of this is coming up. All her ex-wife is trying to do is get money and she is trying to mess up his career. Bebe is one of the best singers in gospel music and he doesn’t need all this beef with Oprah or anybody. I can’t believe she is doing this after he and Cece gave thanks to her on their album. The truth will come out eventually and that is when you’ll see who is telling the truth.
