Katherine Jackson has suddenly withdrew her objections to the appointment of the two longtime Jackson associates as executors to her late sons will, according to reports Wednesday.
A few months ago, Joe Jackson set forth a motion to convince a judge that the administrators of their son’s will have a conflict of interest and should not handle the case.
Katherine hired Adam Streisand to replace the lawyers who were leading her four-month-long challenge of Branca and McClain.
Streisand announced in court Tuesday morning that Katherine Jackson “feels it’s high time that the fighting ends.”
“She feels that Mr. Branca and Mr. McClain have been doing an admirable job,” Streisand said. “We’re going to try to partner with them and work closely with them to make sure that the estate is doing the best that it can for the legacy of Michael Jackson, for the kids, most importantly.”
During the hearing Judge Mitchell Beckloff also unsealed court documents that revealed the family spent $1.1 million on Michael Jackson’s funeral in August, using money from his estate.
As well, Joe Jackson has lost his claim for a monthly allowance from the late singer’s estate.
Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff refused the claim for a $15,000 a month. Joe claimed that his only income was his social security check.
The judge said that the ruling was based on Michael Jackson’s decision not to give his father any of his assets. “Joe Jackson takes none of this estate,” he said. “This is a decision his son made.”
Joe Jackson, 81, and Katherine Jackson, 79, have been married for 60 years but they live separately.
Michael Jackson died at the age of 50 after suffering from cardiac arrest on June 25th.
