Rene Angelil has revealed that his superstar wife Céline Dion is not pregnant. Their second try did not pan out, but the couple is not discouraged.

“While she and Rene are actively trying for a baby, she is not currently expecting,” said a source.

Last August, Dion announced she was finally pregnant with her second child. However, the in vitro fertilisation failed. Not the least bit discouraged, the singer tried a second time in October, but the results still came up negative. A third try was finally planned for this weekend in New York.

Angelil commented that they are living the reality that a majority of couples that seek reproductive techniques face, and that the road can be long and hard. He added that it doesn’t always work the first time, such as when they made attempts to conceive their first son, Rene-Charles.

Last August, Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the pregnancy was going well, but that wasn’t the case. Ten days later, the couple learned the bad news.

Rene said: “Dr. Zev Rosenwaks believed that the procedure/pregnancy took, but that wasn’t the case. We found out some days later. We were shocked.

“We are living the reality of the majority of couples who have to use IVF. The process can be long and arduous.

“But today, we are full of confidence. Celine is more determined than ever. She doesn’t let go.”

The two prefer to live with this hardship in private, but as the news has been spreading, they felt the pressure to break their silence.

Dion, 41, has been undergoing several tests since April. Doctors have reminded the couple that it’s normal that more tests are required. Dion and Angelil are not giving up, and say that they are blessed to already have Rene-Charles, 8.

On November 21, Rene Angelil will be making a stop at the Montreal Book Fair to meet the public. He stated that everything will be clarified before he arrives.
