Taylor Swift was completed uninterrupted as she won awards for all four categories she was nominated in at the 43rd annual CMA show on Thursday night. She took home three trophies for album of the year, female vocalist, and music video for her five-time platinum album Fearless. At the tender age of 19, Swift blew past her fellow male nominees and went down in history as the youngest recipient of the CMA’s highest honor of the night: Entertainer of the year.
Trio Lady Antebellum nabbed two awards for single and vocal group. Rascal Flatts had been a long time favorite taking the vocal group category for the past six years.
Darius Tucker proved his singing talent could conquer country music hearts and snagged the award for new artist. He will also go down in the books for being the first black artist to win in this category.
Fan favorite Sugarland took home the award for vocal duo for the third year in a row.
Brad Paisley only won two awards, including male vocalist, after leading the nominations in seven categories. Musical event of the year was awarded to Paisley and Keith Urban for their duet “Start a Band.”
Timid newcomer Jamey Johnson went home with the award for song of the year “In Color,” co-written with James Otto and Lee Thomas.
