Julianne Hough the DWTS dancer turned country music star tells Usmagazine.com her split from Chuck Wicks is for the best.

“It’s a good thing for us right now,” the singer, 21, told Us. “We are both extremely busy and working on our careers and really focused on that.” (Her brother Derek also told Usmagazine.com her schedule is too hectic for a relationship: “She’s a busy girl, doing an amazing job. She’s a great person.”).

Wicks, 30, recently revealed that he and Hough grew closer this past spring when they were paired up together on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars.

Hough “makes me learn some difficult steps sometimes,” he said. “She doesn’t just let me dance around her. She challenges me, makes me pay attention and makes me want to pay attention.”

Despite the split, the pair said that it wasn’t awkard to see each other at the CMA’s

“We are such good friends,” said Huff. “Of course, we weren’t together. We will always continue being good friends.”

The couple started dating in 2008 after meeting at a Brad Paisley concert.
