Legendary Hollywood actress Lauren Bacall received an honorary Oscar this weekend for her lifelong work in the movie industry, and for her body of work on over 30 films.
Bacall, 85, was handed her Oscar by Angelica Huston, the daughter of famed Hollywood director John Huston, who worked with Bacall and her husband Humphrey Bogart.
Bacall is perhaps best known for being a film noir leading lady in such films as The Big Sleep (1946) and Dark Passage (1947), as well as a comedienne, as seen in 1953’s How to Marry a Millionaire and 1957’s Designing Woman. Bacall also enjoyed Tony-winning success in the Broadway musicals Applause in 1970 and Woman of the Year in 1981. Her performance in the movie The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996) earned her a Golden Globe Award and an Academy Award nomination.

Lauren Bacall Gets honorary Oscar

Laruen Bacall is the definition of “class” in Hollywood! Current big name actresses need to study her style and talent. She is amazing!
IT’S ABOUT TIME!!
As a child I wished I could look and act like her, I am so glad that she received this honor in the land of the living and not posthumously.
About time is an understatement.
The Academy has overlooked this iconic actor for 50 years. This would be the same Academy that never awarded Alfred Hitchcock a Best Director’s Award.
Anyway, well-deserved and better late than never.
Politics suck. Congrats to Betty Bacall !
Lauren – you are stunning….this award was way too late……you take my breath away…….you are the epitome of The Perfect Actress, The Perfect Woman…I wish I could look like you, be like you! And have your talent and class…..I wish you all the best. And, as Valentine says, “It’s about time! I am so glad that she received this honor in the land of the living and not posthumously….”
Congrats, Princess………Queen!!
