Tomorrow is one of the most highly anticipated days of this year for “Trekkies”. It is the release of the DVD and Blu-ray of the movie Star Trek.

This is a three disc set that is a special edition and offers several extras.

There is an extra called Gene Roddenberry’s Vision on the Blu-ray that shows Nimoy and Abrams paying homage to the humanism of the creator of Star Trek.

The set is being sold for approximately $29.99 for the two disc set and $39.99 for the Blu-ray and is available Tuesday November 17, 2009.

The special edition also offers deleted scenes, such as a glimpse of Kirks brother, a subplot with Klingons and more green Orion ladies. There are also featurettes that detail casting decisions, a tribute to Leonard Nimoy and a gag reel.

Also part of this collection is the alternate pilot episode that is rarely if ever shown titled “Where No Man Has Gone Before”. It is completely digitally restored and there is also another never-aired episode with a different version of the opening speech “Space, the final frontier….”.
