Adam Lambert is speaking out about his controversial performance on Sunday night’s American Music Awards.
His performance went out live in the east but after producers saw it, it was edited for the west coast feed of the show.
In his performance Lambert French kissed his fellow male band member and simulated oral sex which were both substituted for audience shots in the feed to the west.
Lambert said after in an interview “You know honestly, if I offended some people, it’s apples and oranges. I’m not an artist that does things for every single person. I believe in artistic freedom and expression, I believe in honouring the lyrics of a song, and those lyrics aren’t really for everybody either.” Adding “If it’s edited, that’s discrimination, I will be a little disappointed because there is a little bit of discrimination going in this country. There’s a big double standard, female pop artists have been doing things provocative like that for years, and the fact that I’m a male, and I’ll be edited and discriminated against could be a problem.”
The singer did admit that an edited down performance would not shock him. “I’m not going to be surprised that they edit it,” he continued. “People are scared and it’s really sad, I just wish people could open their minds up and enjoy things, it’s all for a laugh, it’s really not that big of a deal.”
Back in 2003 Madonna and Britney Spears kissed live on the MTV Video Music Awards which wasn’t edited.
Lambert thanked all his fans via Twitter writing “All hail freedom of expression and artistic integrity,fans: I adore u.”
Meanwhile, ABC decided to cancel Lambert’s scheduled appearance on Wednesday’s Good Morning America after the controversy.
“Given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning,” an ABC News spokesperson told Access Hollywood.
The American Idol runner-up responded to ABC’s decions on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.
“Obviously, I respect their decision,” said Lambert during a Tuesday appearance on Idol host Ryan Seacrest’s KIIS-FM radio show.
“They’ve got to do what they’ve got to do. It’s too bad. I think that there were a lot of fans that were excited to come see me at the Hudson Theater here in New York. So I think that’s probably kind of disappointing for them and I feel bad about that. But I don’t feel like I owe anybody an apology for anything.”

Maybe Adam went a little too far…But I’ve seen Madonna do things that would embarrss me even more! He has an awesome voice…And I’d walk a mile, several, to hear him sing any day…However, he doesn’t need anything other than his voice to make it. He is awesome! I just know that I am mesmerized when he is singing…THAT is what realy counts…
The kiss should not even have been an issue. The oral simulation may have been a little much for AMA considering there may have been young kids watching. Other than that GMA needs to get over itself!

This fool is a complete idiot. We seem to be accepting more and more of this trash on TV. The shame of it all is that some people think that this is acceptable behaviour and it’s OK to have this broadcast over the air. Thank Goodness there is still an off switch on my TV!

Being a mother of a amazing gay son, I especially feel gratitiude for Adam’s mom for totally accepting her son as is. Great for not backing up or out, do what you gotta do, too many straight folks are in the closet too. All the closeted women who watch porn.
