Brad and Angelina Donate $6 Million to Charity
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated over $6 million to various charities last year.
The couple run several charitable organizations including Make It Right NOLA, the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Project, Global Action for Children and the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
This $6 million is more that double what they gave away in 2007. The pair said to have put $13 million into their foundation and have given away half of it to various organizations including $2 million to Global Health, $1 million to Make It Right, $1 million to Human Rights Watch, $500,000 to the Armed Services YMCA of the U.S.
Army and $50,000 to the Springfield, Missouri Public Schools in Pitt’s hometown.
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation was started back in 2006 and after their daughter Shiloh was born they donated all of the money they were given for the baby’s first pictures to the foundation; they also did this when they had their twins, Knox, and Vivienne in 2008.
In other Angelina Jolie news, apparently the humanitarian is a staunch opponent of US President of Barack Obama.
“She hates him. She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts. She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise,” an Angie insider has divulged. “Angie isn’t Republican, but she thinks Obama is all smoke and mirrors.”
According to sources, politics are one thing the power couple don’t have in common as Brad Pitt is an outspoken supporter of the Obama Administration.
“They get in nasty arguments all the time about it,” the tattle adds. “She doesn’t respect Brad when it comes to politics, but, in the end, this won’t tear them apart.”

Bush warned the Dems. against their pushing the banks to give loans at sub prime rates to minority’s and those who could not afford it. Obama as a lawyer –with a couple other lawyers, even sued a bank when they did not give loans to 2 or 3 couples who did not have the appropriate credit score. The bank settles for about a million dollars to avoid the publicity, even though they were in the right. The couples get $60,000 each. The lawyers split the rest. Go look it up. Our president said that giving loans to people who couldn’t afford it is a good idea. Remember, this banking fiasco started the entire economic meltdown last year. All brought on by the democrat controlled congress with policies they pushed when they became the majority DURING the Bush Administration. Just like Jolie, I am against handouts and bailouts. If we all got for free, who the heck is going to work to keep the country going? There should be incentive to work, not incentives to not work.

For instance, for health care reform Republicans have advocated tort law reform (malpractice) which is a major reason for doctors paying high malpractice insurance that they pass on to you and me in their charges. Oh, but since the greedy, shameless trial lawyers have Democrats in their back pocket and Democrats want those big lawyer campaign contributions, there will be no messing with lawyer golden goose malpractice trial fees. Even VP Biden admitted in a press conference that Democrats can’t rock that boat.
Republicans also advocate allowing insurance companies to sell health insurance across state lines as car insurance is. Some states have only one or two health insurance companies, basically a monopoly which keeps prices high.
If Democrats were REALLY interested in better health insurance and/or lower cost they would want more competition between insurance companies. But what Democrats REALLY want is to create bigger government, more government control of our lives, as well as redistribute wealth.
Open your eyes and turn your brain on before it’s too late.
And yet Obama’s job is not to do what is best for the nation, even if you believe that claptrap, it is to uphold, protect, and defend the constitution, and to faithfully execute the laws. You might think it an anachronism to care about the constitution, but the fact you mention all of the problems this president faces and lead with health care, something not part of the constitutional mandate of the federal government, might indicate to a discerning reader that you care more about political “wins” than national good.
Of course we could always change the constitution so that you could achieve the worker’s paradise Obama holds as a goal, but that would require real work, real political work. As a former Marine who served his country proud and put his life on the line for our great country I would not hesitate to do so again for President Obama just as I did for Presidents Regan, Bush, and Clinton. The ability for all of us to share in this interesting debate and vigorously defend our positions is what make our country so great. While each democratically elected president is the face of our democracy we must not forget that ours is not a dictatorship as some would have us believe but rather a triage of power shared between the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. Political rhetoric would have us to believe one person can tear our country apart but in reality one person can only make a difference. The question is what positive difference can we make to do just that.
While I personally find some comments over the top and I would actively serve again to protect the rights of all to express them.
With that said its easy to make excuses and to pass blame. The real work and the mission at hand will take the contributions and talents of many for our country to be successful. For our sake and our children’s sake we want to be on the right side of history. The good news is we have the ability to create that history (unless of course we choose to sit and hope for failure).

It is unfortunate to hear all the criticism of Obama. How bad is he really doing? And, if a Republican was in office how well would that person do? I am in the health care industry and see first hand what a lack of insurance does. There is a lot of propaganda about socialist and Obama giving handouts. The handouts are obvious now because simple put, we are now eligible to get them. Please believe at lot of these have been in place for years – we were just not eligible to get them b/c we don’t make enough or run a fortune 500 company. Most of welfare does not go to the poor but to companies that “qualify” for these “handouts” at our expense. Now, to prevent the country from collapse, some incentives are put in place to stablize the economy and all I hear is resounding criticisms. (Please note that I earn over the maximun for these economic stimuli and therefore do not qualify for any handouts but none-the-less understand the importance right now). I believe there is a lot of work left to be done. To all of you out there, I impress on you to start finding solutions. Once you have a good idea then pass it on and maybe someone in power may be able to use it for the improvement of our nation. Experience will tell us if all we hear are harsh criticisms then we become deaf and basically an inoperably relic. However, when the positives are balanced with the negatives then we learn,adapt and ultimately succeed. We are not talking about one man here – we are talking about our nation. Let us build America and not tear it down – let’s show other countries how it is done by standing together.

My husband and I were recently laid off and we are now recieving assistance (medical and food). We could not find jobs in our area, so we decided to go back to school and get degrees in an area that is stable (medical field). We are both pulling a 4.0 while raising 2 young children and volunteering when we can. Obama made it possible for us to survive while bettering ourselves and our family. We have paid taxes for the past 15 years. We are the reason that assistance is offered. It is not fair to categorize people in this way. Not everyone who gets on assistance is lazy and unwilling to try. There is no “one-side” to anyone. Obama isn’t all bad and he isn’t perfect either. He is a human who is in charge of a bunch of immature adult brats who expect that one person should be able to make their lives better. All I can say is IT STARTS WITH YOU PEOPLE. If you want change, you have to work for it yourself–never fully rely on others.

Lol. I am embarrassed by some of the comments on this page. It’s apparent that one of America’s downfalls is the education system. I truly wonder where some people learn to construct arguments or develop basic cognitive thinking skills.
As for race, it is true that many Obama opponents dislike him solely for his color, which is wrong. On the other end of the spectrum, many people only like him for his color and not for any of his policies. That is equally ignorant.
But other people dislike him for his policies, what he stands for, and his actions. These are legitimate reasons to dislike a politician because by definition politicians are POLICY MAKERS, so if you don’t like the policies they stand for or put in place, it’s a legitimate reason to dislike them in the leadership position they fill.
If Jolie’s opinion is that he has some “socialist” tendencies – which many other people who are much more knowledgeable about the subject than I or most likely anyone else in these posts have claimed, it’s not just her random rant – I would think that’s exactly what she means.
It doesn’t even make sense to say her dislike of him is based on race – she spends a majority of her time donating money, raising support, and helping people of all races all over the world. She’s been recognized this year for her humanitarian efforts. She has adopted children of other races because of her love for children of all ethnic background.
Please, I beg you, before you form these candid opinions about things, be well informed. Do research and try to enact some critical thinking skills. Otherwise, please leave the opinion-sharing to people who are capable of higher levels of thought. You just make yourself look foolish if you don’t.

It is long past the time for any living African American to continue to expect reparations. If the White Man has been so dominant in White areas, why can the African Americans not make their own way in their own communities? Please do not suggest that the White Man controls these areas. Surely, by now, the African American areas should have the intestinal fortitude to create strong communities within themselves. When Europeans moved to America near the turn of the 20th century, these people congregated into ethnic communities, amongst their fellow countrymen. Over time, with strenght and perserverance, these European Americans created commerce and wealth that is world-class, yet started these enterprises in the neighborhoods, at the ‘street’ level. True,these white areas did not allow other ethnic groups into their domains in some instances. However, it was not limited to the color of one’s skin, as different heritage or religion precluded inclusion as well. I am NOT suggesting this was appropriate, but am suggesting that those whom truly desired to better their station in life, took up their own cause, took accountibility for their own actions, and made themselves into something more. What they did not do is blame the country, or their meager beginnings for generations. So, please, stop blaming others for the shortcomings of an ethnic group. The Lord helps those whom help themselves!
