American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert suggested during an appearance on The Early Show that his performance at the American Music Awards probably wouldn’t have caused as much controversy if he wasn’t openly gay.
“I admit I did get carried away, but I don’t see anything wrong with it,” he said Wednesday. “I do see how people got offended and that was not my intention. My intention was to interpret the lyrics of my song and have a good time with it.”
Lambert was performing his song For Your Entertainment, which is definitely a sexual song. During the tune, the singer may have gone too far with some suggestive moves.
The ABC network, which aired the AMAs, received several complaints about Lambert’s performance. In light of the controversy, the network decided to cancel his scheduled appearance on Good Morning America. ABC believed that it was too risky to trust the upcoming star in the live format.
Lambert believes that “if it had been a female pop performer doing (his) moves that were on the stage, I don’t think there would be nearly as much of an outrage. I think it’s because I’m a gay male.”
When he was offered the opportunity to apologize, Lambert declined. He went on to point out that no children were in the audience at the gala, and parents need to be the people who control what their children watch on television. He added, “I’m not a baby sitter, I’m a performer.”

Adam has no need to apologize. His was the last of a number of what could be defined, in some people’s eyes, as not suitable for children entertainers that night. If parents were worried about their kids then maybe Janet Jackson’s crotch grabs, Lady Gaga’s wardrobe or Eminem talking (rapping) about rape should have been their first clue. If you don’t like the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Personally Adam could be in my kitchen any time!
Look, no body wants to see Adam perform like that ! I don’t remember a female grouping and kissing another female or male on stage durring prime time ! It’s not that he is gay, he showed poor taste and poor judgement. And Adam4WorldIdol, no body cares who you want in your kitchen. Just because you are gay does not mean you are entitled to any thing more than anyone else. It doesn’t mean it is o.k. to make sexual comments or references about what your beliefs are. I could care less if you are gay, straight or what ever. No one cares. I am basically writing this to say the “Gay Shock Value” thing is old.
Come on get alife He is purely a peformer and if you watch much TV or other shows you would know what Adam is like he is truley a talented entertaner, he has other people working with him that coregraph for him Get with the times its 2009

For all you people that are outraged! GET A LIFE! Adam needs to apologize for nothing, Here’s some food for thought. USA Today reported 14.2 million viewers watched the AMA,s ,the best numbers since 2002. ABC chose Adam to preform and scheduled him the last performance, WHY? If America voted Kris Allen as the American Idol then why did’nt they ask him to preform instead of Adam? ABC knew the content of Adam preformance as they premoted his appearance though the whole entier show with comments such as He’s going to be on everybodys lips tomorrow! and your not going to believe this! to mention a few, they used Adam to get viewers and then pulled the well, we’er the Walt Disney channel Give me a break, and as for the children watching they should have been sent to bed as soon as they saw Lady GAGAs butt in the mirror behind the piano! I agree with Adam watch your own kids! oh and one more point, if their were childern who missed this performance don’t worry it’s on everybody’s lips today via the all mighty boob tube thru replay after replay through out the entier day. Please remember people, When you point the finger to blame somebody three are pointing back at YOU! Perhaps you need to apologize for your bad acts! Hey Dorothy, ABC didn’t know the content of Adam’s performance, as a matter of fact he was scheduled to appear on Good Morning America after the show. ABC cancelled him. Adam is killing his own career, I think he killed his career because now the conversation is not about his talent but about his sexual preference. As far as pointing a finger of blame, I have stated the facts and Adam is the one who made a fool of himself. At least he has you as a fan. lol. Now adeline, Really,… Really.. Lol. I watch other T.V. shows and I know he is a very talented singer, but I wont watch him groping another mans genitals while kissing him “DISGUSTING”, last time I checked that has not been allowed on T.V. Prime Time between straight, homosexual or Bi Sexuals on ANY awards show. By the way, he did sign a “disclosure” contract before hs act and he clearly violated ABC’s contract. Remember, just because the few like what they saw him do doesn’t make the act o.k. ABC and the rest of the media has to go with what a majority of the viewing audience finds apropriate. Get real turn your tv off if you don’t like it. The entertainers were all throwing sex in your face and ramping it up all night. You can’t give me my kids were watching that when you allowed them to watch all the other sexually explicit stuff for almost two whole hours. Adam did not grope any man’s genitals that was all Janet Jackson so get your facts right. Adam is a huge star and his music sales will prove that. Folks trying to blow this up are ridiculous.

And you are right about Janet Jackson, but that happend over three years ago. Get your fact right. Another thing, you are assuming my children watched the show, well you are wrong again.
