So was it ok for Madonna and Britney Spears to share a kiss on TV, but not Adam Lambert and a male keyboardist?
Since his controversial performance at the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert continues to spark debate.
On Wednesday’s Early Show appearance by Lambert, producers blurred the singer’s open-mouth kiss with nother man during his controversial performance at Sunday’s AMAs. Seconds later, an undistorted clip of Madonna smooching Britney Spears at the 2003 MTV VMAs ran.
A CBS rep explained the decision to Extratv:
“We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated, and for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences.”
What do you think of Lambert’s performance?
here are few comments from some of our readers:

I think poor Adam Lambert is confused about what it takes to make it in the business. Unfortunately he doesn’t realize that he already has the talent and doesn’t need to showboat in that kind of arena. If he’s trying to make a bigger name for himself, he’s going about it the wrong way. I don’t care for him personally so if this hurts his career, oh well.
M says:
I think he’s an idiot…enough said.
M2 says:
He just gets caught up in the moment…unfortunately his “moments” aren’t what mainstream America appreciates. I still love him though!

Although Adam Lambert is an amazing talent, his performance had no place on TV. Maybe in concert. I would not want my children to watch that performance. And I will not be buying any CDs because of the images that won’t go away. And his comment about if a female performer had done the same thing is so very lame.
Mustang Momma says:
If he wants to act like that in one of his concerts that’s different. I don’t like it but at least I have a choice of buying a ticket and attending knowing the kind of show I might be exposed to. But there needs to be a sembalance of decency on TV. Especially where there might be a younger audience. What he did is inexcusable. I will never watch anything he is on. Not to mention the harm he has done to the gay cause in this country. He just played right into the gay sterotype that people object to. You have the right to your life as long as you don’t throw it in my face.

I thought what Adam did, while somewhat shocking, was not that unexpected. Anyone who actually watched Idol or saw him on the summer tour knew that he is not a G-rated performer. It was absolutely brilliant marketing, whether that was the intent or not. This happened 1 hour before his album debuted. He’s all over the news, trending on Twitter, and on every news and entertainment website. Four days later, we’re still talking about it. So, no, he’s not an idiot, it’s actually pretty genius. And because it’s time to focus on the music, let me just say that his album is amazing.
I do believe there is an extreme double standard in this country. Everyone who has followed Adam since discovering him during AI auditions already knew he was a sexually charged performer. We as his true fans were ready for that. Really, should this be an issue considering all the sexual content on prime time TV shows. Just a few weeks ago while watching Flash Foward (on ABC) they showed a lesbian relationship with intimate kissing between the two actresses. Was I ready for that? Did anyone ask my opinion? Were there any raised flags the next day about it? No! Shame on you ABC for your double standard. Let’s get on with our lives and respect that Adam is an artist who is in the process of perfecting his craft in the public eye. Adam is a talented performer with a promising career ahead of him. He has been punished enough already! Thank you CBS for allowing him to perform on two different venues on the same day! I am still a devout Adam fan and will continue to support him.
What Britney and Madonna did was just as trashy. You just feel embarrassed for people who do stuff like this for attention. Adam did not get a huge applause at the end of the AMA performance- one just sensed an awkward feeling and cringing.
I am a fan of Adam Lambert’s music,though.
I think it is all sick! Why? Do we care to watch ANYONE smooching when they are suppose to be singing and entertaining? Don’t care if it is the same sex, opposite sex or sexless. It has no place when entertaining except in a strip joint or whatever.
Adam is NOT Madonna of Britney! (not that that excuses them either) He is an American Idol runner up. He is a nobody compared to them…BTW I don’t recall either Madonna or Britney at an awards show guiding someones head toward their genitals to simulate oral sex!
