Roman Polanski Pays Up But Not Released Yet
Director Roman Polanski (“The Pianist”), who is currently behind bars in a Zurich prison, has posted the necessary $4.5 million bail but remains in prison until the Swiss court decides whether or not they want to appeal the decision.
Even after posting bail Polanski won’t be able to walk free; he will be put under house arrest at his family chalet in Gstaad and will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device at all times.
The 72 year-old is being held in Switzerland until an agreement can be made between the Swiss and U.S. governments for his sentence to be carried out in the U.S.
Polanski plead guilty to having sex with a 13 year-old back in 1977 and has been wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant since then.
The court has 10 days to make their decision.
