The 2010 Grammy nominees have been announced.
R&B/pop diva Beyonce leads the field for the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, pulling down 10 nominations.
Pop/hip-hop unit The Black Eyed Peas, R&B vocalist Maxwell and rapper Kanye West all hauled in six nominations, announced by the Recording Academy on Tuesday night.
Taylor Swift leads the pack of country artists with an incredible eight nominations.
“I started freaking out and jumping up and down,” Swift said in a telephone interview Wednesday with the Associated Press.
“I honestly never would have predicted this, eight nominations – I’m ecstatic, and blown away and so so thankful,” the stunned country sensation said.
As for Canadians, Toronto born rapper Drake received two nominations.
“It’s definitely an honour. I haven’t even put out my first album yet,” said Drake, 23, when approached by host LL Cool J during the broadcast, making sure he said “hi” to his mom like a proper, nice Canadian boy. “I just want to make sure I get a nice suit.”
Nickelback are also nominated for best hard rock performance for Dark Horse’s “Burn It To The Ground.”
A handful of nominees were revealed during a special show broadcast live in the east from L.A.’s Club Nokia.
