Former NBC anchor, Tom Brokaw and his wife were not hurt in a traffic fatal car accident Friday, on a highway in New York.
In a statement, Tom Brokaw said that the accident occurred when traveling in the left lane of the highway Bruckner, he noticed a spool of cable in the right lane, forcing an SUV in the other lane to veer off track .
The SUV then forced a mail truck into the Brokaws’ lane of traffic. Brokaw says he then slid into the median after the mail truck.
“Tom hit the brakes hard and skidded along the median,” his statement said. “When the mail truck catapulted the median, the Brokaw vehicle slid into it.”
“Neither Tom nor Meredith were injured, but tragically the driver of the SUV was thrown from her vehicle and killed,” the former NBC anchor said in a statement.
“Tom and Meredith are greatly saddened by this loss of life.”
