Susan Boyle’s Depression Battle And Bullying

Internet sensation and now worldwide recording artist Susan Boyle has told how school bullies made her life a misery.

The “I Dreamed A Dream,” singer said she had suffered years of depression after being taunted over her learning difficulties. Susan said she felt angry and that the bullying had left psychological scars.

The Britain’s Got Talent star says that she suffers from anger and mood swings as a result of a “hellish” childhood.

According to The Sun, the chart-topper told an Australian TV show: “I can be up and down like a yo-yo – I can be depressed – I know I’m taking a big chance telling people this but you have to be honest.”

John Carnell, Bullying UK CEO said that the charity was contacted by many adults in their thirties, forties, fifties and older who were still suffering the effects of school bullying which had meant that many of them had not been able to hold down jobs or have lasting relationships.

“The good news is that doctors are now so much more sympathetic,” said John. “Older people who seek counselling tell us that they find it very useful in being able to understand that it was the bullies who had the problem, not them, and they can finally seek closure and move on with their lives.”

Boyle’s first album, I Dreamed a Dream, was released on 23 November 2009, and has become Amazon’s best-selling album in pre-sales.

Susan is an inspiration to people from all walks of life. People are cruel. We should have more empathy and be more caring.
Just because someone dresses or acts different, there is no excuse to make fun of them. I was made of in my 8th grade because we were poor. I will never forget the rude comments by my former classmates. But, it made me determined to be a beeter person. And, most of all to treat everyone equal and to have compassion.
Susan is is inspiration to all. We love her and her music. I pray she can remain strong and be true to herself with all the attention. She is so blessed with talent and we wish her the best.
