Hall of Fame Quarterback Joe Namath is being sued in West Palm Beach Circuit Court by a former UPS delivery man who claims he was attacked during a delivery by Namath’s dogs.
David Gunter had filed suit against Namath seeking $15,000 dollars in damages claiming he has been unable to work since the 2007 attack by Namath’s dogs wich left him seriously injured.
Gunter claims his injuries have required four surgeries and left him in fear for his life and unable to work. The 2007 incident occurred as Gunter, then a delivery man for UPS, was making a delivery at Namath’s home in Tequesta, Florida, which is located 90 miles north of Miami.
Testifying before a special Magistrate last month, Gunter stated the attack left him with severe injuries and was in fear for his life during the attack.
Namath also testified saying his dogs were well behaved and no danger to anyone, providing photos of his three dogs, a German Shepard, a Weimaraner, and a Labrador Retriever, with children as evidence of their friendly nature.
The Special Magistrate also heard complaints of previous incidents with Namath’s dogs, and ordered Namath muzzle and keep on a leash at all times his Labrador retriever.
No court date has been set.
