Could Katy Perry and Russell Brand already be engaged?

Thought the couple have made released no official statement, a number of blogs and tabloids have been reporting that the couple is engaged.

A “source” told UK tabloid The Mirror that Brand “asked [Perry] to marry him last week and she quickly said yes… They don’t know when the wedding will be but they are planning to make it in 2010 if the schedules can work.”

The source, who has an uncanny knowledge of all the intimate details of Perry and Brand’s engagement, continued to say that the British comedian presented the singer with a Cartier ring (a claim supported by pictures snapped of Brand shopping at the high-end jewelery shop earlier this month:

Allegedly, Perry agreed to marry Brand, but declined the ring, asking for something different.
