Here’s something that doesn’t happen to Angelina Jolie that often: the actress was dropped from the fashion label St. John’s ad campaign for being too famous.
According to the company’s CEO Glenn McMahon, Jolie “overshadowed the brand.”
“We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blonds and cleanse the palette,” McMahon told Women’s Wear Daily. “We needed to show a modern point of view of St. John; we have evolved.”
He’s probably right, as we’d never heard of them before this.
Next month, the new, Angie-less ads launch in Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue, showcasing stunning redhead Karen Elson (pictured), who, incidentally is famous in her own right as she’s married to White Stripes singer Jack White.

Angelina Jolie Is Just Too Darn Famous

How do you figure that being married to somebody famous makes someone “famous in her own right”? Strange logic there. With her flame-haired beauty and her aura of glamor and mystery, Karen Elson was already a top model before she married Jack White.
