Spider-Man 4 Getting Complete Overhaul, No More Maguire or Dunst!
Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios announced Monday that “Spider-Man 4″ which had been put on hold, won’t be happening at all and that the franchise will reboot and focus on Peter Parker as a teenager.
This means that we won’t be seeing any more of Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, and that Sam Raimi, director of the previous three
“Spider-Man” movies, is also out.
Sony cochair Amy Pascal said “We’re very excited about the creative possibilities that come from returning to Peter’s roots and we look forward to working once again with Marvel Studios, [producers] Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin on this new beginning.”
Raimi commented on the switch “Working on the Spider-Man movies was the experience of a lifetime for me. While we were looking forward to doing a fourth one together, the studio and Marvel have a unique opportunity to take the franchise in a new direction, and I know they will do a terrific job.”
Early Rumors
One rumor which has set Twilight fans into a web of excitement, is speculation that Robert Pattinson will take over as Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Despite early speculation,E! Online reports that no such deal has been struck.
While Sony declined to comment on the report, an insider close to the production had the following to say:
“Casting will only begin after a director is chosen. That has not happened yet. Sounds more like an optimistic float by a manager or agent who has nothing to lose by throwing a name into the mix.”
The studio is hoping to release the reboot in 2012.

Lets hope they wont ruin this movie series which is a favorite of mine by letting this sham of an actor dawn the spider man suit bad enough we have to see this homeless look-alike every were we look nowadays i wish people would get over this guy

Go back to Spidermans “teenage years?” It started in parkers teenage years and they want to do it with a different person playing the part???? All that say’s is they are OUT of ideas!! Sad to see this series go down. Its gonna be a huge disappointment……..
Nothing against Toby as an “actor” and…… I’ve never seen Robert Pattison in Twilight or other works,so I may be jaded somewhat. But I will go ahead and say that societies interpretation of “men” got lost somewhere. These guys are generally viewed as “Metro-men”. I always viewed that the Spiderman-movie castings were wrong. After the last Spiderman movie where Toby has a crying ‘meltdown”…I’m convinced that I won’t pay the theatre for the next chapter of a quasi-spidy hero. The vampire guy doesn’t belong in this franchise either. Who is responsible for casting?? What a joke. Metro-heros do not = sales in the super hero camp. The last Superman flick casted another questionable “Super-manly” representative. Too bad John Wayne wasn’t around to “represent” the filmation version of kicking all their girly butts.
