Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. was found dead in his Memphis home early on Wednesday.
The Memphis puck rocker was well known for performing shows and his released singles.
The 29 year olds stage name that he was known by was Jay Reatard.
The Memphis police reported that Jimmy Lee Lindsey Jr. was found in his bed dead.
They are investigating the incident and Jennifer Robinson a police spokeswoman stated that they aren’t suspecting that foul play was involved.
Results are still pending from the autopsy that was performed Wednesday. Reatard’s friends told media that the rocker had been complaining of not feeling well with symptoms of the flu.
The garage rocker had started out as a teenager recording songs in his bedroom and by the age of 15 he was playing in the Memphis clubs. Goner Records had picked up on his songs and began to release his singles. He had a discography of 22 albums and more singles than anyone could keep track of.
His style of music was rough as he favored blasting of the guitar and smacks on the drum, which was recorded mostly from him with very little equipment earned him the respect from his fans.
He was survived by his father, Jimmy Lindsey, mother Devonna May; and three sisters, Stephanie Duncan, Gara May and Leslie Lindsey.
