The much teased 3-D portion of Michael Jackson’s This Is It documentary will be coming to TV as part of a Grammy Awards tribute to MJ on January 31.

Usher, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Smokey Robinson and Celine Dion will be singing along with Jackson’s “Earth Song” vocals while a 3-D mini movie rolls behind. The Recording Academy is honouring the King of Pop with a Lifetime Achievement Award for real this time. No 2002 MTV VMA Artist of the Millennium funny business.

CBS is teaming with Target to distribute millions of 3-D glasses so viewers can experience the Jackson tribute at home. People attending the awards live at Los Angeles’ Staples Center, also the site of Jackson’s memorial service, will receive a pair of 3-D glasses.

There are unfortunately no Target retailers in Canada so it looks like us in the north will have to dig out our two-toned specs circa Spy Kids: Game Over.
